The short answer
A 15 minute timer counts down 900 seconds and rings at zero. Press Start above and it begins right away, with big digits, full screen and an alarm you choose. Fifteen minutes is a good block for a habit you want to grow: reading, meal prep, a walk around the block or a Pomodoro long break.
What fits in 15 minutes?
Fifteen minutes is a quarter of an hour: enough to finish something that has a beginning, a middle and an end.
- Read before bed. Fifteen minutes a night adds up to about 90 hours in a year. Track the books in the reading log.
- Prep tomorrow's lunch. Cook once, pack two portions. Plan the week in the meal planner.
- A Pomodoro long break. After four focus rounds, the Pomodoro Technique uses a longer break, often 15 to 30 minutes. Get away from the desk.
- An end-of-day shutdown. Review what got done, write tomorrow's first task and close every tab. Here is what a shutdown routine is.
- Declutter one drawer. Empty it, keep what you use, bin or donate the rest.
How to use the 15 minute timer
- Press Start. The timer is already set to 15 minutes. The space bar starts and pauses it too.
- Need a different time? Type it in the box, such as 7, 7m 30s or 7:30, and press Set. Or tap another preset.
- Make it big. Full screen (or F) shows only the countdown. Kids view shows a big colored disk that shrinks as time runs out.
- When it rings, press Stop alarm or the space bar. Restart runs the same 15 minutes again; +1 min snoozes for a minute.
The timer saves the moment it will end on your device, so it stays accurate in a background tab and after a reload, and the time left shows in the tab title. The page has to stay open for the alarm to play.
Frequently asked questions
How long is a Pomodoro long break?
The Pomodoro Technique uses a longer break after four focus rounds, commonly 15 to 30 minutes. A 15 minute timer is the short end of that range; the Pomodoro timer runs the rounds and breaks for you.
Can I pause the 15 minute timer?
Yes. Press Pause or the space bar; the time left stays frozen until you press Resume. It is saved on your device, so a paused timer is still there after a reload.
What is a good 15-minute daily habit?
Something you want more of that has a natural start and finish: reading a chapter, a walk around the block, prepping one meal or a short workout. Tie it to a fixed moment, like after dinner, so you do not have to decide each day.

- Pomodoro Technique (Wikipedia) — Francesco Cirillo's method uses intervals of typically 25 minutes, short breaks, and a longer break after four rounds.
