The short answer

A 10 minute timer counts down 600 seconds and rings at zero. Press Start above to begin; it keeps accurate time in a background tab, in full screen and after a reload. Ten minutes fits a brisk walk, a beginner meditation, a kitchen reset or ten minutes of reading before bed.

What fits in 10 minutes?

Ten minutes is where small habits start to add up. Three of these a day is half an hour you did not have to find in one piece.

How to use the 10 minute timer

  1. Press Start. The timer is already set to 10 minutes. The space bar starts and pauses it too.
  2. Need a different time? Type it in the box, such as 7, 7m 30s or 7:30, and press Set. Or tap another preset.
  3. Make it big. Full screen (or F) shows only the countdown. Kids view shows a big colored disk that shrinks as time runs out.
  4. When it rings, press Stop alarm or the space bar. Restart runs the same 10 minutes again; +1 min snoozes for a minute.

The timer saves the moment it will end on your device, so it stays accurate in a background tab and after a reload, and the time left shows in the tab title. The page has to stay open for the alarm to play.

Frequently asked questions

Does a 10-minute walk count as exercise?

Yes. The CDC recommends 150 minutes of moderate activity a week for adults and says it can be broken into smaller chunks, so a brisk 10-minute walk counts toward the total.

Is 10 minutes of meditation enough for a beginner?

It is a common starting length. Doing it most days matters more than the number of minutes; if ten feels long, start with five and add a minute each week. The meditation timer adds interval bells if you want them.

Can I get a notification when 10 minutes are up?

Yes. Press Notify me and allow notifications; you will get a pop-up when the timer ends, even while you work in another tab. The page has to stay open for it to fire.
