The short answer

A 1 hour timer counts down 60 minutes and rings at zero. Press Start above; it shows the time left in your browser tab, keeps going in the background and survives a reload. One hour is a good length for a deep-work block, a long workout, cooking a proper meal or a screen-free evening.

What fits in 1 hour?

An hour is enough for one important thing. Decide what it is before you press Start.

How to use the 1 hour timer

  1. Press Start. The timer is already set to 1 hour. The space bar starts and pauses it too.
  2. Need a different time? Type it in the box, such as 7, 7m 30s or 7:30, and press Set. Or tap another preset.
  3. Make it big. Full screen (or F) shows only the countdown. Kids view shows a big colored disk that shrinks as time runs out.
  4. When it rings, press Stop alarm or the space bar. Restart runs the same 1 hour again; +1 min snoozes for a minute.

The timer saves the moment it will end on your device, so it stays accurate in a background tab and after a reload, and the time left shows in the tab title. The page has to stay open for the alarm to play.

Frequently asked questions

Is a 1 hour timer the same as a 60 minute timer?

Yes. It counts down 60 minutes, shown as 1:00:00, then 59:59 and so on. To set 60 minutes from the box, type 60, 1h or 1:00:00.

How do I set 1 hour 30 minutes?

Type 1:30:00, 1h 30m or 90 in the box and press Set. A plain number is read as minutes, and two colons mean hours, minutes and seconds.

Will the timer still be right after an hour in a background tab?

Yes. It works from the time the hour ends, not by counting ticks, so a slowed-down background tab cannot make it drift. The alarm is queued on the audio clock, which keeps running while the page is open.
