The short answer
The Winter Arc is a social-media challenge to use the last three months of the year, usually October 1 to December 31, to build a few daily habits before New Year. Pick 3 to 5 small rules you could keep on a bad day, tick them every day, and treat a missed day as a restart, not a failure.
What is the Winter Arc?
The Winter Arc is a trend from TikTok and other social apps: use the last three months of the year to work on yourself quietly, so you reach January already moving. The name borrows from stories, where a character's "arc" is the part where they change. There is no founder, rulebook or official app. Most people pick a handful of daily rules, start on October 1 and keep going to December 31. Read the full Winter Arc challenge guide for rules, a sample week and what research says.

Rules to leave out: crash diets, very early wake-ups that cut your sleep, cold plunges if you have a heart condition, and workouts every day with no rest. The safety notes in the Winter Arc guide explain why.
Winter Arc tracker for students
Choose Students above the rules, or open the student rule set directly. It starts with five rules: two focused study blocks, 15 minutes of testing yourself, the phone in another room while you study, 30 minutes of movement and lights out by 10:30 p.m. Each has a hard-day version for exam weeks. The Winter Arc for students guide has a school and college time table, and the study schedule maker plans the subjects inside your blocks.
October theory tracker
October theory treats October as a second New Year: about 90 days to reset a few habits before January. Choose October theory above the rules, or open the October theory rule set directly. It starts with one hour of focused work on your goal, 30 minutes of movement, no phone for the first hour, lights out by 11 p.m. and five minutes to plan tomorrow. Start on any day and finish on December 31 or after 90 days. The October theory guide has a three-phase plan and an example day.
Winter Arc tracker PDF and Excel sheet

Tap PDF & Excel and pick a design. The PDF is one portrait page with your rules, every date of your arc and a box per rule each day, so you can tick it with a pen. It fits A4 and US Letter. Prefer a spreadsheet? Download Excel (CSV) gives you one row per day and one column per rule, ready for Excel or Google Sheets. Your check-ins come with it.
Use the Winter Arc tracker like an app
There is nothing to download from an app store. Add this page to your home screen and it opens full screen, straight to your rules, like an app. It is free and needs no account.
- iPhone and iPad (Safari): tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen, then Add.
- Android (Chrome): tap the three-dot menu, then Install app or Add to home screen.
Your ticks are saved on your device, not in an account. On Android the home-screen app shares them with Chrome. On iPhone the home-screen app keeps its own copy, separate from Safari, so add it before you start ticking, or fill in past days from View calendar & edit past days. For a 30-day habit plan with daily reminders, use the separate DailyHabitAI app.
When does the Winter Arc start?
Most people run it from October 1 to December 31, which is 92 days, but there is no official date. The Winter Arc start date guide has a live countdown, the other start dates people use and what to do if you start late. To start later here, tap Customize, change the start date and pick Through Dec 31 or 90 days.
How to use this tracker
- Set the dates. October 1 is the usual start. Starting later is fine; choose to finish on December 31 or after 90 days.
- Pick 3 to 5 rules. Open Customize to edit the starter rules, choose an idea or write your own. Each rule shows a hard-day version you can fall back on.
- Tick every day. Tap a rule to check it off, or tap again to undo. Open the calendar to review one month at a time and edit a past day.
- Print it or save it. Tap PDF & Excel, choose Minimal, Bold or Cozy, then save the full tracker as a PDF, print it, save a picture for your phone or download the Excel sheet.
- Review on Sundays. If a rule keeps failing, make it smaller or move it to a better time instead of dropping the arc.
Want a lighter start? A 30-day challenge with one habit is a good warm-up. For something fun to go with it, make a fall bucket list.
Frequently asked questions
When does the Winter Arc start and end?
Most people start on October 1 and finish on December 31, which is 92 days. There is no official date, so you can start on any day and run to the end of the year or for a fixed 90 days. This tracker does both.
What are good Winter Arc rules?
Rules you can answer with yes or no and keep on a busy day: move for 30 minutes, read 10 pages, no phone for the first hour, lights out by 11 p.m., journal for 5 minutes. Three to five rules is plenty. Skip extreme diets and sleep cuts.
What if I miss a day in my Winter Arc?
Leave the day unticked and keep going the next day. In habit research, one missed day did not materially change progress. What matters is not missing twice in a row, so pick a smaller version of each rule for hard days.
Can I start the Winter Arc late?
Yes. Pick today as your start date and choose to finish on December 31 or after 90 days. A late start is still a real arc; the dates are a trend, not a rule.
Can I get the Winter Arc tracker as a PDF?
Yes. Tap PDF & Excel, pick a design (minimal, bold or cozy) and press Download PDF. In the print screen, choose Save as PDF, or your printer for paper. You get one page with your rules, your dates, a calendar grid with a box per rule and a line to sign. Days you already ticked print filled in.
Is there a Winter Arc tracker in Excel or Google Sheets?
Yes. Download Excel (CSV) saves every day of your arc as a row and every rule as a column: 1 for done, 0 for missed, blank for days still ahead. It opens in Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers, where you can add your own totals or charts.
Is there a Winter Arc for students?
Yes. Choose Students above the rules, or open this page from the Winter Arc for students guide: two focused study blocks, 15 minutes of self-testing, the phone in another room while you study, 30 minutes of movement and lights out by 10:30 p.m. Edit any of them.
Can I use this as an October theory tracker?
Yes. Choose October theory above the rules for a 90-day reset: one hour on your goal, 30 minutes of movement, no phone for the first hour, lights out by 11 p.m. and planning tomorrow. Start on any day in October and finish on December 31 or after 90 days.
Where are my ticks saved?
Your rules and check-ins stay in this browser on this device. Save as image keeps a picture of your progress. The separate 30-day habit app does not import this tracker.
Is there a Winter Arc tracker app?
Yes, this tracker works as a free web app with no account or app store. Add it to your home screen and it opens full screen, straight to your rules. On iPhone, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, open the Chrome menu and tap Install app or Add to home screen. Your ticks stay on your device.
